Background.
Kemsley Paper Mill Kent is one of the largest if not largest newsprint processing plants in Europe.
All waste paper that cannot be recycled is burnt within a combined heat and power plant to supply heat & electrical power to the site process.
This large plant was put in to commission in partnership with Powergen.
The central combustion plant is sand based fluidised bed within a plant approx. 23 meters High with a bed diameter of approx. 6 meters.
Task by Oil & Water Limited
The residual non-combustible ash has to be removed from the fluidised bed approx. every 8 weeks to maintain high combustion efficiency.
The ash is hazardous and at all times no discharge of ash/dust is permitted. Oil & Water Limited proposed a sealed industrial vacuum and sealed bag process to fully satisfy the high customer & environmental requirement. These works have to be carried out within a rigid 48 hr. time frame. With no failure accepted by client.
In addition to the regular engineering process carried out. Oil & Water also manage the safe disposal of wastes off site monitoring & controlling cost on behalf of the customer.
